EVE Frontier is taking the pilot’s seat to the next level. Forget point-and-click movement; the new direct WASD flight system puts total control in your hands, making every roll, pitch, and burn feel alive.
Now, you’re not issuing commands from afar; you’re flying the ship.
With W / S handling pitch and A / D steering yaw, pilots can finally feel the thrill of true spatial control. Each keypress carries intent: a quick tap for subtle adjustments, or a press-and-hold for full rotational commitment. Every movement feels deliberate, and every decision in the cockpit counts.
Throttle management has evolved, too. Speed is now broken into clear steps for precision control, with E accelerating through four forward tiers and Q easing you into reverse once you pull back past zero.
Need to settle in for a long haul? Alt + WASD lets you “set and forget” your vector, freeing you to focus on the bigger picture while your ship glides majestically through the void. When danger strikes, hit Ctrl + Space for an instant full stop and total stabilizer lock.
Of course, all of this is fully customizable, just head to Settings → Shortcuts → Navigation to tune your cockpit layout to perfection.
By merging tactile input, momentum physics, and flexible directional locks, EVE Frontier’s WASD flight transforms navigation into a skill to be mastered, not a command to be executed.
This isn’t autopilot; it’s YOU, the pilot, conquering space through precision, awareness, and raw instinct.
While EVE Frontier introduces full WASD-based direct flight for ships, traditional navigation commands remain available for Environmental objects and stationary structures such as Asteroids, Keeps, Stargates, and Smart Assemblies can still be approached and orbited using the classic interaction system.
