The Ship Fittings interface is where you are able to fit modules to your ship. In the ship fitting window, you can optimize your ship for mining, boost its defenses, increase its getaway speed, or anything you can think of that may prove useful when flying on the Frontier.
Overview of Slot Types
In the Ship Fitting window, you can modify and customize your ship by adding, replacing, or upgrading various components. There are four main types of slots:
- Low Slot – Used for armor, shields, and cargo grid expansion.
- Mid Slot – Supports armor systems, repair modules, navigation modules, and shields.
- High Slot – Typically for offensive weapons and mining equipment.
- Engine Slot – Used for installing and upgrading engines.
CPU and Powergrid
Each ship has a unique slot layout and varying limits on power grid and CPU. These limits determine how many and which types of modules you can fit. If your fitting exceeds either the available CPU or power grid, any module that pushes you over the limit cannot be brought online.
(In the screenshot, the bottom-right corner displays both your current usage and the maximum capacity for CPU and power grid.)
Low Slot: Armor, Shield, and Cargo modules
Low Slots can be fitted with modules that increase cargo capacity or enhance your ship's defenses. Defensive modules boost armor or shield hitpoints and offer unique bonuses, which you can view in-game by inspecting each module’s attributes.
- Armor Modules (e.g., Bulky Armor Plates, Nimble Armor Plates).
- Shield Modules (e.g., Attuned Shield Generator, Bulwark Shield Generator).
- Cargo Modules (e.g., Cargogrid II, Cargogrid III).
Medium Slot: Armor, Repair, Navigation, and Shields
Mid Slots support additional armor, repair modules, and navigational enhancements.
- Armor Systems: Provide extra armor protection (e.g., Adaptive Nanitic Armor Weave).
- Restorers: Repair armor damage (e.g., Systematic Armor Restorer).
- Navigation Modules: Improve ship speed (e.g., Afterburner).
